I did this abseil participating as a fundraising activity for Paddlers for Life Windermere breast cancer survivor dragon boat team. A daughter of a fellow paddler arranged the event to abseil down Carlisle Civic Centre in the town centre. The building is about 130 feet tall.
Several paddlers and school students participated and raised over £1000 for the charity.
Paddlers for Life, Windermere dragon boat team. This team of mainly breast cancer survivors and family and friends who support them paddle 12 metre dragon boats on Windermere in the Lake District. They are based at Low Wood Watersports Centre at the Low Wood Hotel near Ambleside, Cumbria, UK. This is a beautiful place to paddle. The activity helps everyone to keep fit and provides a support network for people who have been diagnosed with and treated for cancer, particularly breast cancer.
